Stay cable system installation
Our stay cable installation service adheres to the highest safety and quality standards, covering cable systems, stay pipes, dampers, anchorages, and anchor boxes. During project planning, we evaluate all critical factors to ensure long-term performance, durability, and resilience against diverse risk scenarios.
Your partner for durable stay cable systems
We provide a complete stay cable system installation service for cable-stayed structures such as bridges and stadiums, advising on the best solutions for design requirements and environmental conditions, including cable stressing, anchorage installation, anchor boxes, saddle solutions, and integrated monitoring sensors.
Optional enhancements, such as protective sheathing, aesthetic cable illumination, and specialized coatings for ice resistance, corrosion prevention, UV protection, fire-proofing, and blast protection, can be incorporated during installation to maximize durability, resilience, and visual appeal.

Over 50 years of experience
DYWIDAG has been a leader in stay cable system installation since the 1970s, starting with the Werksbrücke West Bridge in Germany—the first cable-stayed concrete bridge to carry both rail and road traffic, and the first to use high-strength thread wire cables.
Since then, we’ve delivered hundreds of stay cable systems for bridges and major structures worldwide with a number of milestones along the way, including:
The Odawara Blueway Bridge in Japan ( (1994) - The world’s first extradosed bridge
Kap Shui Mun Bridge in Hong Kong (1997) - When built, was the world’s longest cable-stayed bridge
The introduction of our DYNA Grip® System (2000) which set new standards for safety and reliability.
Our commitment to innovation continues with landmark projects such as the Penang Bridge in Malaysia, the Gordie Howe International Bridge connecting the US and Canada, and the Danjiang Bridge in Taiwan—the world’s longest single-mast, asymmetric cable-stayed bridge.

The installation process
01 Sheathing preparation
The outer polyethylene sheathing is welded on-site to the required length and lifted into an inclined position, ensuring precise alignment for strand installation
02 Cable assembly and install
Individual strands are uncoiled, their protective PE coating removed, and then pushed or pulled through the sheathing using winches or pushing devices until they reach the anchorages at both the pylon and deck.
03 Anchorage preparation & stressing
Anchorages such as DYNA Grip® or Clevis are installed to transfer forces securely. Each strand is stressed with hydraulic jacks, elongation measured, and wedges fixed to lock the strand permanently
04 Final adjustments & safeguards
After stressing, components like deviators and damping systems are added to control vibrations and transverse forces. Optional sensors enable ongoing monitoring for long-term performance

We customize every solution to your project’s geometry and constraints, ensuring efficiency and precision from concept to completion
Uncompromised quality
We deliver ISO 9001-certified systems that meet global standards and undergo rigorous testing for strength, durability, and safety
Durability by design
We engineer for longevity with multilayer corrosion protection, UV-resistant sheathing, and optional fire and blast resistance
Future-ready solutions
We integrate smart monitoring technology for easy maintenance, reducing downtime and ensuring long-lasting structural performance
Our installation methods
DYWIDAG has developed various methods to optimize and simplify cable installation procedures depending on site-specific space and time constraints.
The complete cable can be preassembled on the ground if required
Outer sheathing is welded to length on site using heated tool welding and lifted into position
Strands are uncoiled from reels or provided reel-less, installed and stressed individually with lightweight equipment
Installation uses small winches or pushing devices
Hardware configuration is adjusted to site conditions for fast, customized solutions that minimize costs and cycle times
Strands are installed into the sheathing, and the cable is lifted into its final position before all strands are stressed
