  • How does the DYWIDAG Smart Void Monitor detect track voiding?

    The Smart Void Monitor automatically measures track voiding when a train passes, capturing data under real operating conditions.

    Once installed, the unit remains in low-power standby. When a train approaches, it activates and uses a high-precision sensor to measure rail displacement caused by voiding beneath the track.

    Data is then transmitted wirelessly to DYWIDAG’s Infrastructure Intelligence platform and Network Rail’s RADAR 2 system. Depending on configuration:

    • Data is sent at scheduled intervals, and
    • Immediate alerts are triggered if thresholds are exceeded.

    With GPS tracking and automated alerts, engineers gain clear, location-specific insights—enabling faster decisions and more proactive maintenance.

    Install: The unit attaches directly to the rail using a magnetic clamp and remains in low-power standby once fitted.
