DYWIDAG Stay Cable System for the Construction of a Bridge over the Paraná river

DYWIDAG participated to the construction of the 60 km long new highway connection between the cities of Rosario in the province of Sante Fe and Victoria in the province of Entre Rios in Argentina.

The overall project consists of a series of dams with a combined total length of 48 km and several large bridges.

Principally two-lanes, the highway is doubled to four lanes on the bridge section over the Paran river, to substantially facilitate inter-regional traffic between Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil. The main bridge is a 608 m long stay cable structure over the Paran river with two approach viaducts measuring 1.1 km and 2.4 km in length. The main span is 350 m long providing 50 m vertical clearance for shipping. The side spans are 120 m long. The bridge deck is held in place with fan-shaped stay cables arranged in two levels off the pylons.

The installation of 128 DYWIDAG Stay Cables with DYNA Grip Stay Anchorages total weight 740 t was successfully completed early in 2002. The remaining works in connection with the installation of the stay cables were successfully completed in June 2002.
